Thousands of years ago, people have no idea that there could be smaller than the things their naked eyes could see. It may even be impossible to entertain the thought that a speck of sand or a single drop of water could contain beautiful yet complicated forms. It is safe to say that the universe of tiny structures, now we call microcosm, could only be found in our imagination.

As the world continued to evolve, human discovered the making of transparent glass. Soon, they noticed that every time they peered at an object through a glass ball or bead, the object looked larger. This give way for them to grind and polish those glass ball which was the Lens.

Few hundred years ago, the lenses were small and imperfect; even the best glass could look greenish and full of tiny bubbles. Until in 17th century when lenses had been improved; however, it was the time when people were very curious about their surroundings. The yearning to explore the place they live in was so great, thus, the age of science has began. Not later then, Microscope was born.

Microscope comes from two words, micro and scope. “Micro” means small and “scope” means an instrument to view things. It is always been said that the Microscope is our window to secret world. Perhaps, it unveils to us the things that are “invisible”.

It gives us a chance to take a peek to the creatures that our naked eyes could not see. Through the microscope, these things are larger and more visible. Just for instance, it could change the leg of insect into a huge claw or turn a drop of water into an aquarium. Microscope is really one of the biggest breakthroughs of human kind in understanding his existence and the world he lives in.
